Hair Trends For 2015 And Beyond
So far, 2015 has been an amazing year for eclectic hair trends that have caught on with the stars of television, film, and music then trickled down to the mainstream consumers. Hair colors and styles that would have been considered avant-garde just a few years ago are being requested by hair clients from every lifestyle and demographic sector. It's important to keep up with styles that are trending in mainstream popular culture, as these are the styles, cuts, and colors that are the most likely to be requested by your clients. The following is a list of the most popular hair trends of 2015 that are likely to remain in the spotlight in 2016.
Color
Pastel Hair
Pastel hair is all over street style blogs and fashion magazines, as well as your local mall. Colors like pale pink, lavender, and sea green have topped many a head this year. All-over pastel hair is popular as well as just dying the ends for a pastel ombre look. As the trend continues into 2016, it may evolve by clients requesting two pastel colors that compliment each other by being from similar areas of the color wheel. Combos like pale pink/sherbet orange and sea green/sky blue will be seen more often. Pastels for 2016 are also likely to take on more metallic tones which can be achieved by mixing gold or silver dye additives to your pastel dye.
Cut
The Lob (Long Bob)
The lob was everywhere in 2015, with no signs of slowing down. It's a versatile and youthful cut that is easy to style and can easily be grown out if your client is too busy to make it into the chair every six weeks. A long bob is shorter in the back and slightly longer in the front. The freshest looking lobs combine other hair trends such as wavy hair and textured ends. In 2016, the lob may become more disheveled looking and will often appear with choppy, eyebrow skimming bangs.
Style
The Fishtail Braid
This look is a favorite of music festival attendees and fashionistas alike. It looks complicated but is actually quite simple once the process is explained. Fishtail braids with skinny strands of hair take the longest to achieve but are also the most elegant looking. The trendiest takes on the fishtail braid are having the braid trail down over one shoulder or making the braid across the top of the head into a "Heidi" braid. In 2016, the fishtail braid may incorporate streaks of colored hair for extra pop.
